Peru - Master Plant Dieta- Day 4

August 25, 2026 – Day 4

I believe it is a Tuesday, but the days have already begun to all meld together at this point. I do know this marks the halfway point for this portion of my journey. An interesting and maybe unsettling reality for some, is that when you have days and days of no talking to other humans, no external escapes, no text messages, no social media, no television, no movies, just you and your thoughts, there is no other choice but to face yourself.  Which makes complete sense, since there is nothing to hide behind or distract us from the internal narrative that always swirls in the mind.

What does life look like here, it is simple and beautiful. I am staying in a one room cabin; it is well equipped but minimal to say the least.  It is tucked into a beautiful mountain ridge, with wildlife and beautiful redwood trees all around.  The kind people here who run this place, have created a beautiful space for internal work and reflection. They deliver my meals at a designated drop off point once a day, but otherwise, they are out of sight and mind.  This land has a powerful energy about it; it is something I could feel as soon as I arrived. There is a curious heaviness, yet beautiful energy that hangs, many beautiful sentient beings have walked here, and so much heavy energetic work has been completed in this place.

One of the things a person begins to notice are the simple pleasures of just being alive, the taste of a cup of tea, the smell of incense burning, a blacktail deer with triplet fawns, the sounds of the forest at night, just alive, a wild symphony of music for the soul. Then there is the shower, I do not know what it is about showers, but they are a whole thing for me, such a simple thing…  But for whatever reason, I always remember and look fondly to my travel experiences where there is a great shower experience.   I have taken some showers in some beautiful places, this one ranks right up there with the best.  Sort of an indoor yet outdoor shower experience, privacy, but still in the open air and the smells of the outdoors there to greet you in each moment, along with views of the forest and mountains.   Absolutely amazing! Like I said it is the simple things…

At this point, when I wake in the morning, I am looking at myself in the mirror, asking the question, “how are you going to share this space with yourself today?”.  There are limited things to do, only what I have brought with me or taking myself for a walk. It is so different than being in my space at home, as there are the endless possibilities, along with the normal guilt of not doing something that “needs” to be done, cleaning, laundry, work, grocery shopping, errands, etc, etc… But here none of that exists. We sometimes call this boredom, but really, it is simply the things we do to distract ourselves from ourselves.  So, I sit with the boredom. Just be with it. Remembering there is a purpose and reason for this madness, so I just keep sitting….
